A Beijing court has held its first hearing in a consumer fraud lawsuit against Tesla over its "Full Self-Driving" (FSD) software, with 10 Chinese owners seeking combined damages of more than 3.95 million yuan, The Beijing News reported.
The dispute centers on whether Tesla's FSD system meets its marketing claims of "full self‑driving capability."
The plaintiffs argue that the feature has not been approved by Chinese regulators and cannot deliver on advertised functions, alleging the company concealed hardware defects to induce purchases.
Nine of the owners are seeking full FSD refunds plus triple punitive damages. Another owner is demanding a full refund and triple damages for the entire vehicle.
Tesla disputed the claims in court, saying some FSD functions are "fully functional" while others are "partially functional" or still under development.
