China is weighing potential restrictions on exports of advanced solar manufacturing equipment and related technology to the United States, a move that could affect U.S. clean energy investments, Reuters reported today.
Reuters reported today that no final rules are in place, and talks have yet to move into formal industry consultation.
China currently produces more than 80% of the world’s solar panel components and hosts all of the top 10 suppliers of solar cell manufacturing equipment.
If adopted, the move could disrupt plans by U.S. companies, including Tesla, to build new factories or expand existing ones to boost local production, the report said.
