1. Longi said today it cut the prices of its wafer products by 30% and Trina announced it will build a 25 GW monocrystalline ingot factory in the Sichuan province. Furthermore, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that the Chinese PV industry produced 39.92 GW of solar cells in April, and Datang Group unveiled the results of a tender to procure 8 GW of solar panels.
2. SPIC said on May 25, the first phase of 21MW Photovoltaic Power Generation Project of the Hunutlu Power Plant in Türkiye was put into operation at full capacity three months ahead of schedule, making the completion of the first phase goal.
3. On May 30, Trina Solar and Deyang City, Sichuan, reached a cooperation on "Annual Production of 25GW Monocrystalline Rods and Supporting Project Investment Agreement" to jointly build a photovoltaic industry project with a total investment of RMB10.7 billion($1.52 bln).
4. Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk in Beijing on Wednesday, exchanging views on the development of new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles.
5. On May 30, CGN officially put into operation the 180MW Tanque Novo wind power project in Brazil. The project is expected to generate 720 million kWh of electricity annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 650,000 tons, and create more than 1,000 local job opportunities.
6. Elon Musk arrived in Beijing yesterday. He was guessed to meet with Robin Zeng, chairman of CATL because of a picture circulating on social media. The two haven't responded to this yet. According to market insiders, topics that were probably on the agenda are the supply of energy storage cells to Tesla's planned Megapack factory in Shanghai, building a battery plant in North America together as well as the supply of batteries to Tesla’s electric cars.
7. China delivered the world's first M350 type floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel officially last Friday. It is the world's first ultra-large offshore project design and can be applied to oil and gas development operations in global waters.
8. Recently, the first unit of the Al Salam Power Station in Bangladesh was successfully connected to the grid. The project, built by EPC-contracted by POWERCHINA, is a significant cooperative project between China and Bangladesh.
9. Volkswagen will build an R&D, innovation, and procurement center for fully connected electric cars in Hefei, the capital of east China's Anhui Province, according to an investment agreement signed Tuesday in the city.
