IOG Wind,a subsidiary of International Ocean Group(IOG)since 2023,has been awarded a multiyear operations and maintenance(O&M)contract for the balance of plant at the Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan. This marks IOG Wind’s second long-term O&M contract since its founding in 2018 and its first as part of IOG.
Situated 45-70km off the coast of Changhua County at depths of 35m to 60m,the Hai Long project includes Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3,encompassing 73 turbines with a total capacity exceeding 1GW.The wind farm is scheduled to begin commercial operations by late 2026.
The contract covers inspections of newly installed offshore substations,as well as maintenance and troubleshooting of transition pieces, subsea foundations, and other structural components.Additional tasks, including subsea cable inspections and onshore substation operations, will start soon.
“As the largest offshore wind project in APAC,we have signed over 100 contracts with Taiwanese suppliers during[the]construction phase, with a total value exceeding$4bn.Now,as we move toward grid connection and prepare to enter the O&M phase,we are confident that IOG Wind’s strong technical expertise and mature management capabilities will ensure the stable, safe, and efficient operation of the Hai Long wind farm after commercial operation, while also supporting the long-term development of Taiwan’s offshore wind supply chain,”said Hai Long project CEO and project director Tim Kittelhake.
“We are truly honoured to have secured this significant contract with the Hai Long project.Since its establishment,IOG Wind has consistently expanded its service scope and strengthened local execution capabilities, supported by a professional team of sales, engineers and resilient project management expertise.Following IOG’s full acquisition of CWind Taiwan,we are proud that our professional strengths remain consistently acknowledged by clients.Through innovative and optimised solutions, and by further advancing Taiwan’s local supply chain,IOG Wind will support Hai Long in maximising performance and revenue throughout its life cycle, while contributing to Taiwan’s sustainable energy future,”said IOG chair Vincent Tsai.
In August,Century Wind Power delivered 21 three-legged jacket foundations for the Hai Long project, strengthening its contribution to renewable energy infrastructure. This partnership highlights IOG Wind’s role in advancing Taiwan’s offshore wind sector and supporting sustainable energy development in the region.
